Dave Sandelands chairs the firm's transportation law practice which focuses on patent procurement and infringement litigation in the automotive and aerospace fields.  Mr. Sandelands has 13 years of experience litigating cases in federal and state court. Mr. Sandelands has litigated patent, trademark, trade secret and breach of contract cases in the federal district courts in California, Florida, Massachusetts and Utah, among others.    

Prior to beginning his legal career, Mr. Sandelands enjoyed a successful 12 year career as an Aerospace Engineer at Hughes Aircraft Company and McDonnell Douglas Corporation.  Mr. Sandelands retains a strong interest in the Aerospace industry and specializes in the procurement of patents related to aircraft, spacecraft and related manufacturing processes.    

Mr. Sandelands is also a life-long muscle car and Jeep enthusiast who seeks to join his work and outside interests by providing patent, trademark and litigation services to automotive specialty equipment manufacturers.    

Mr. Sandelands earned his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1998 and his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University in 1982.      

In addition to his patent procurement and litigation expertise, Mr. Sandelands also has substantial experience in patent reexamination proceedings before the Patent & Trademark Office and in handling appellate matters before the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals.      

Mr. Sandelands is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in California, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals and is licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark office.  Mr. Sandelands is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
